MAD
Making a Difference
for Children in Foster Care

Objective: Help Children in Foster Care who are being relocated.

The Project in Common for 2008-2009 is “Making A Difference for children in foster care.”  The objective of the project is to help children who are being placed in foster care through no fault of their own.  Member states developed a plan of action to accomplish this objective tailored to their state.

“MAKING A DIFFERENCE” project to help children in Foster Care began January 1, 2008.  The following reports have been received as of January 1, 2009.  Reports have been received from two counties in Illinois.

One county gave numerous items to a Children’s Home.  A letter of acknowledgement attached to the report stated they support more than 1,000 children.  The other county donated over 650 items and they do not know how many children they have helped.

One county in Kentucky reported they had collected items and filled 4 tote bags and 4 backpacks for 8 children.  The items included 106 school supplies, 60 personal items and 11 toys.

One county in South Carolina in their report estimated they had helped 40 children.  They had 3 boxes containing 40 packages.  Included were 17 $5.00 gift certificates to McDonalds.  They collected $ 88.00 for school supplies and $ 70.00 for foster care.

We are MAKING A DIFFERENCE  in the lives of children in foster care.
